Who knows who is the next A-Rod, Le Bron or other multi-million dollar player? The truth is he may be out there on the little league field or grade school basketball court right now. He has tons of undeveloped raw talent that needs to be nurtured. He is probably already showing star quality within the young ranks of recreational baseball or basketball. His coaches and his parents are starting to realize there is something here, he may have what it takes to make it to the big leagues.
The love of the game is usually the first indication. Any professional athlete will tell us that. You have to love the game. If you are blessed with the natural talent, that could be the key to success. Learning the basics is a must, as well as learning to play with a team. Parents can look for the proper team and the best coach, who knows how to spot the strengths and better yet, knows how to conquer the weaknesses.
Play, play, play. Play your sport with your friends, knock the ball around when you are not at practice, shoot hoops at night. Pay attention, know your game. More importantly, know how to take direction and learn from it. While a big sports contract might be in little Johnny’s future, learning how to be a part of a team, and learning strengths and weaknesses, will carry him for a lifetime, no matter the outcome. That is worth all of the little league play you can handle.
